The inaugural Food Drink Dialogues took place in Brussels from 18-20 February 2025 with thought-provoking discussions to shape the future of our food systems.
The Dialogues were hosted by FoodDrinkEurope, representing the 300,000 enterprises that make up Europe’s largest manufacturing sector and employs more than 4.7 million people.
During the three-day event food business leaders, policymakers and changemakers met to collaborate and exchange ideas for policies and projects that will help support businesses, empower consumers, and protect the environment throughout the EU’s 27 members states. The partisipants discused the topics:
"Pathway to a net-zero food chain– How can Europe’s biggest manufacturing industry make a real impact and contribute to the EU’s net zero targets?",
"Empowering consumers for better food and drink choices – How can we build food environments that make it easy to consume a balanced and sustainable diet?", "Strategies for a competitive EU agri-food chain – How can Europe remain the world’s leader in agri-food?".
The main goal of the event was to organize meetings at which MEPs and permanent representatives of the countries in Brussels would be acquainted with the activities of the food industry and its position on the most important issues. On behalf of "Food Drink Bulgaria", the executive director of the association, Ms. Iana Ivanova, participated in the Food Drink Dialogues. Ms. Ivanova has met with MEPs Andrey Kovachev/GERB/, Kristian Vigenin/BSP/, Ilhan Kyuchuk/DPS/, Iliya Lazarov/SDS/ and Taner Kabilov/DPS-New Beginning/ and with Ms. Iliana Atanasova and Ms. Snezhana Blagoeva, Minister Plenipotentiary, Head of sector Agriculture and fishery Special Committee on Agriculture (SCA), Common agricultural policy (CAP) from the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria in Brussels.
